Terms:
All advertising is invoiced at the end of the month, net due 30 days. All advertising is subject to publisher's approval. The publisher reserves the right to refuse any advertising for print. Advertisers who do not have an existing and current account with Atchison County Mail are required to make prepayment by check.
Publisher will not be liable for loss or damage of printing or materials furnished by advertiser. Publisher will not be liable for omissions or errors in materials provided by advertiser.
Publisher reserves the right to alter any materials received at variance with mechanical or software requirements. Alterations will be billed at actual cost.
All advertisements are accepted and published by publisher on the representation of the agency and/or advertiser that both are authorized to publish the entire contents and subject matter of the advertisement and that the advertisements do not infringe upon any copyright or trademark.
If any advertising is, for any reason, not published or is published incorrectly, publisher's maximum liability to advertiser shall not exceed the amount advertiser has actually paid to publisher for such advertisement. Without limiting the foregoing, publisher shall not be liable to advertiser for consequential, incidental, special or exemplary damages, including without limitation, loss of profits or revenues, even if publisher has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Ad Placement:
Requests for specific placement of advertisements or other messages in print are at the discretion of the publisher and, if granted, are given on a "First Come, First Served" basis.
News Policies:
With the exception of editorial page articles and columnists, all editorial comments should be omitted from news stores. "Thank You" notes are considered advertising and should not be included in news articles. Whenever admission is charged, then phone numbers and admission prices about the event is also considered advertising -- if you charge, we charge (even for not-for-profit activities and events in order to pay for paper, ink, postage, etc.).
Timeliness:
News items should be printed immediately after an event. Anything not reported immediately following an event may or may not be published. We will publish a news article no more than two times (once well in advance of an event, again during the week of the event). If a business, organization or individual wants an article published more than twice, the article can be printed as an advertisement.
Obituary and Death Notices Policy:
A $10 charge will apply to all obituary and death notices. The Atchison County Mail reserves the right to edit the length of the obit if it is deemed to long.
• Name, address and age of deceased
• Date and location of funeral, burial, visitation services
• Military rites
• Date and location of death
• Birthplace
• Military service
• School and work history
• Memberships
• Name of spouse, date and location of marriage
• Family members whom preceded in death: immediate family members listed by name (grandchildren, great-grandchildren are not listed by name)
• Survivors -- immediate family members by name and address; number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. (not listed by name)
• Funeral home in charge of services
• Memorials
The following information will be included in print only if space permits: names and addresses of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc.; names and addresses of in-laws and others who are not immediate family members; officiating pastor, pallbearers, funeral music, musicians.
